Southend Museums Service has a vision, and it’s golden. Saxon gold to be exact. The Prittlewell Prince archaeological find, the most significant Anglo-Saxon find in over two centuries, has proved to be the catalyst for a transformation of the museum and gallery provision in East Anglia’s largest town, centred around plan for a major new waterfront museum, overlooking the Thames. We were asked to produce an Audience Development & Access Plan, working with our access advisor Jane Toplis, for a new museum to house the hoard alongside the town’s other art and heritage collections.
Led community and stakeholder consultation, from arts agencies to protesters.
Creatively stimulated thinking on organisational development issues, as the Museum Service will need to triple in size over five years.
Developed a toolkit for operational management of marketing and audience development to support the small, growing team.
